Audi claims the 335-hp A8 4.2 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds. The ride is elegantly smooth, and the A8 displays total control. This is a strong, solid car, happiest when allowed to stretch its legs on the highway. At the 70 mph, it feels as though it's idling. On narrow two-lane roads, this full-size sedan whips from one curve to the next with ease. The A8's interior is unsurpassed in both treatment and amenities. Beyond finish quality, attention to detail is one of Audi's greatest assets. The cabin is elegant and comfortable, and tops the class in finish quality. The mix of wood and metal is pleasing and adds a sporting flair. The A8 seats are supportive and comfortable and adjust 16 ways. The driver is treated to a handsome dash with full instrumentation, steering wheel-mounted controls for audio, transmission and cruise control and a folding LCD screen for the MMI and navigation features. The A8 L's rear doors are 5 inches longer than those on the shorter-wheelbase version for easy entry and exit. The premium Bose surround sound system includes a CD-changer and 12 speakers.
